To the memory of my father, T/4 David Wolf, Air Transport Command, United States Army Air Corps, 1944-1946. His was a tiny untold story in the scope of the conflict, but he will forever embody for me the fact that the war was not won or lost by alliances, by countries, by armies, or by weapons, but by men, women, boys, and girls cast willingly or otherwise into situations for which nothing can prepare a human being.
